INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom” – Viktor E. Frankl
Attending individual psychotherapy can entail a plethora of possibilities. These can range from addressing personal distress, anxiety, bereavement, dealing with serious psychopathology (like Bipolar Mood Disorder), experiencing trouble or conflict at work, having to make a big life decision, the list goes on and on…
When providing the service of individual therapy, a person-centred approach will ensue. The therapeutic process will move at the desired pace of the individual client.
During this therapeutic process, we will also unpack psychodynamicmaterial that has impacted on the individual in the past.Individual therapy is a journey not a race. It can yield quick results or be a long term process, depending on the demands, unique emotional and cognitive composition of the individual.
PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge, but imagination” – Albert Einstein
Psychological Assessment is the blending of certain measures that can tell us something specific about a person or a group of people. This “something” is a mere idea of what a certain person presents as at a certain point in time, in other words, under different conditions this person might behave completely different. Therefore, when psychological evaluation is administered the client is treated holistically and seen in his / her context of their environment.
In my practice, psychological assessment entails the following:
Projective Assessments: These assessments are designed to determine what personality traits are present in an individual. These measures can also reveal certain subconscious emotions or internal conflicts
Cognitive Assessments: This entails evaluating a person’s learning abilities, capacity to process data, thinking, memory, language and judgments.
